Fellowship in Comprehensive Ophthalmology

Duration: 24 Months

Objective:
To enable qualified ophthalmologists to become proficient in diverse cataract surgical techniques and gain structured exposure to ophthalmic subspecialties. The fellowship fosters diagnostic acumen, surgical expertise, academic engagement, and service orientation.

Diagnostic Skills:
Fellows will be trained to:
• Examine and assess patients across all ophthalmic subspecialties
•Formulate accurate diagnoses using clinical judgment and investigative modalities
•Utilize slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, gonioscopy, perimetry, OCT, and other diagnostic tools

Surgical Skills:
Hands-on training includes:
•Cataract surgery with intraocular lens implantation
•Manual Small Incision Cataract Surgery (MSICS)
•Phacoemulsification techniques
•Exposure to advanced diagnostic and surgical equipment

Surgical Volume (Indicative):
During the fellowship, candidates may perform:
•100 to 150 MSICS procedures
•100 to 300 Phacoemulsification surgeries
Note: Surgical numbers may vary based on individual skill and enthusiasm.

Teaching & Academic Engagement:
Fellows are required to participate in:
